Year 4 Inter house bench ball competition

Today, Year 4 had an inter-house bench ball competition. Each house was split into two teams and played against 1 team, out of each of the houses. We concentrated on a different element for each game. One of the focuses was to spread out; this is difficult because everyone gets excited and wants to have the ball. Another focus was pretending the ball was a hot potato, this meant that we had to pass the ball quickly. When we did this we found that although our ball was intercepted less, our accuracy was poorer and led to us retrieving the ball from the floor rather than catching it. We had a lot of fun and want to thank Mr Lammas and Mr Prendergast for organising it for us, and also to our teachers for refereeing.

Thank you!

Mrs Hirani

Mrs Sherry

Mrs Gundry

Mrs Smith

The results were as follows:

4th Georges

3rd Andrews

2nd Davids

1st Patricks

Well done everyone! You all played well and learnt some new skills. Your support for your team mates and other houses was FANTASTIC.

The Ring of Truth

Each of the schools participating in Ring Round The World were asked to decorate a ring to be part of our performance. This is a ring of truth and represents the country. We chose to paint the ring in the colours of the Sierra Leonian flag, we added eyes and arms and legs with different sports equipment to show Sierra Leone's good sportsmanship. Additionally we included the 'star of Sierra Leone' the diamond in the centre with our school initials.

Special Scrumptious Cakes

I’m going to make chocolate cakes with white buttons and strawberries. I am going shopping to Tesco to buy the ingredients, now what do I need? Well, I will need plain flour, eggs and buttons. I am making scrumptious cakes for my two special brothers. After mixing the ingredients I will then bake it. Now I need to put the toppings on the cakes and the chocolate needs to melt to spread it. Then I need to put some more toppings on them with different colours. Finally I can give them my delicious cakes to gobble down and enjoy them.

TRANSLATION NATION

Today, the whole school went into the hall to watch year 5 present the stories they had translated during their 'translation nation' project. They bought in stories written in different languages, from a variety of cultures and translated them into English. They had limited time to learn the stories and rehearse them before the performance.

I think you'll agree 4Z, that they did an amazing job! I only hope that you are as successful next year if you get the opportunity to do it.

Our trip to Osterley

It was epic. We did a lot of walking but it was worth it. Learning about looking closely at pictures and historic information was very interesting. We met some lovely volunteers that we would like to say a big thank you for. Hopefully everyone agrees that it was very typical for the shop to be closed on the day we went. other than that we enjoyed the trip!!

Thank you Miss Gundry, Miss Owusu and Mrs Gary.
